Ashley Filip has been writing songs since she was just 12 years old.  Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, she began playing gigs in high school, opening for local acts such as Michelle Malone and Billy Pilgrim in venues such as Eddie's Attic and the Hard Rock Cafe.  She spent seven years in Cambridge, Massachusetts, playing regularly at Club Passim in Harvard Square, and later spent a year in Nashville honing her songwriting skills at writer's nights and gigs.    Light Years is her most recent recording, and a culmination of her years spent playing gigs and writing.  Heavily influenced by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Alison Krauss, Marvin Gaye, Joni Mitchell, Shawn Colvin, Lauryn Hill, and Brad Paisley, her songs are full of stories of family, spirituality, and relationships.
